Why is sand NOT considered a mineral?

It is not considered a mineral because it has a sediment style, like gravel.
Although it does have quartz in it, the quartz is mixed in with other elements, making it a non mineral element.

fun fact..when sand is struck by lightning it creates class in the sand.
