Based on what you have read from the memoir of Miep Gies, prepare a point you would make in a group discussion. Write two or three sentences to explain what you would say to the group about how Miep Gies persisted. Ideas?
This is what I read. I said to myself, you can do what you like, even drink poison, but I will stay here. Then he said again, “I’ll be back to check on you. One wrong move and off you go to prison too.” He turned and shut me into the room alone. I had no idea where he’d gone. I had no idea what was going on in the rest of the house. I was in a terrible mental state. I felt as though I were falling into a bottomless hole.
Idk if you have more with this or not, but I'm assuming his is like in her head, her still worrying about protecting the family. While times are hard currently, Miep isn't being selfish and worrying about herself and her own safety, but rather helping a whole family, knowing the punishments that will come if they get caught. She is ticking to what she knows and feels is correct.
