so remember if the roots of a quadratic function are a and b then the quadratic function is (x-a)(a-b) = 0 does that help you?

crispyrat:

im sorry im a bit confused on what i may do with the function

AZ:

oh, right you just multiply it out use the FOIL method so that way then you can get it into the form of z^2 + az + b = 0 and then you can determine what a and b are z is basically like 'x'

AZ:

so think about it like this if we had roots of 2 and 3 then our equation would be (x-2)(x-3) = 0 x^2 -5x + 6 = 0 and so you could find out what the 'a' and b' value is if we're looking at x^2 + ax + b = 0

crispyrat:

(x-(-7+2i))(x-(-7-2i))=x^2+14x+53

crispyrat:

and 14+53=67?

AZ:

Well done!
