During WWII, Africa was colonized by many countries. Portugal, Spain, Britain, Germany, Italy, etc. India was colonized by Britain, and the Middle East was colonized by Britain and several others. After WWII, anti-colonization broke out. Britain lost control over India and Africa, and the Middle East. So did Portugal and Spain. And, so did the others.

I might recommend reading up on the indian independence movement a bit, it was from the 1850s to around the end of WW2
