Read this excerpt from "Nixon Resigns" by Carroll Kilpatrick: At 7:30 p.m., Mr. Nixon again left the White House for the short walk to the Executive Office Building. The crowd outside the gates waved U.S. flags and sang “America” as he walked slowly up the steps, his head bowed, alone. Which details of this excerpt refine the central idea that the resignation of the president is a historical event? the formal tone and the fact that Nixon walked to the Executive Office Building the informal tone and the time of day that Nixon walked to the Executive Office Building the informal tone and the fact that the president was alone and walking slowly the formal tone and the description of the crowd waving flags and singing patriotic songs <<<<<
The last one?
so what are your thoughts what choices can we eliminate for sure? @iosangel?
These two, the informal tone and the time of day that Nixon walked to the Executive Office Building the informal tone and the fact that the president was alone and walking slowly
yes I agree because time of day doesn't tell us any evidence it could be a historical event because it could be any day, and people can also obviously walk any day too and it doesn't prove it was a historical event, so B and C are eliminated like you said now we have to figure out if it's A or D
do you think it's A or D? To help you could re read the excerpt
D
yes, correct, because A is like saying he walked to a place, it doesn't prove it was historical, but D waving flags and singing patriotic songs does describe historical things
