Article Review: Read and write a two paragraph summary. Due at the end of the class period 4/23/2021 Lennard Gilham • Apr 21 100 points Spring will soon be here. People are celebrating the Lunar New Year. Do you see a brighter future in 2021?Without a doubt, 2020 was a challenging year for most. Besides lockdowns, many companies let employees work from home permanently. When many business activities were put on a break and supply chains were interrupted, the global economy collapsed. COVID-19's impact on the hospitality and tourism industry has been devastating and unprecedented. How tough was it in 2020?The aviation industry According to the International Civil Aviation Organization, global air traffic dropped from 4.5 billion in 2019 to 1.8 billion in 2020. Hotels were running at about 44% occupancy in 2020, down from 66% in 2019, although extended-stay hotels and the home-sharing sector seemed to be more resilient during this pandemic.STR, a leading provider for data benchmarking, analytics, and marketplace insights for the lodging industry, reported a decline of 84.6% in U.S. hotels' gross operating profit per available room (GOPPAR). In 2019, U.S. hotels were running at $245.10 in total revenue per available room and $94.72 in GOPPAR. SmokeyBrown:

It seems like the assignment is asking you to summarize the article into two paragraphs. You can start by trying to determine the main points of the article. It seems like the main idea of the article is describing different ways that 2020 was a challenging year, particularly with regard to business. So, that would probably be the focus of the summary. The article goes into a lot of detail about how COVID affected different industries with many figures and statistics to back up these points. You don't need to include all of these in your summary, as long as you can convey generally the negative effect that COVID had on these industries throughout 2020

SmokeyBrown:

Thanks for sharing the document; this way, I'll be able to look on as you write your summary and I can give you some feedback if you like :)

SmokeyBrown:

Reading through the article again, I notice there's another side to it; on the one hand the article talks about how 2020 has been hard on businesses, but there's also the question of hope for the new year: will things get better moving forward? Actually, that could be a way for you to organize the 2-paragraph summary, if you like: The first paragraph could cover how 2020 negatively impacted businesses, and the second paragraph could address how things might get better (or not) in the coming year?

Tonycoolkid21:

ok

Well, I hate to disappoint you, but I'm not really allowed to do that, based on the site rules. That would definitely fall under plagiarism, and we're not about that, right?

Tonycoolkid21:

SmokeyBrown:

Good night and I hope you get a good rest! Please don't expect to come back to a fully written report, but like I said I'll help you out short of doing the assignment for you

SmokeyBrown:

Do you have any questions about the assignment? It seems fairly straightforward, but if there's anything that's confusing you or getting you stuck, we can try to figure it out together. After you come back tomorrow, of course. Feel free to hit me up, if you wanna discuss more. Please don't keep asking other people to do your assignments for you! It won't help you learn, and I believe you have what it takes to do it, with the right support

Nope. The question is to summarize all of that but I guess we're being requested to summarize for them. @Tonycoolkid21 Here's a summary tip: Go through the paragraph(s) and find interesting facts/statements that stand out to you. Make a list of those facts or statements, and then share those with us. We can help you build up a summary from your list. 🆗? Cheers! Let me know when you're ready to start. - Kitt
