6.What is proportional to the energy of an electromagnetic (EM) wave? A.its gamma rays B.its total amount of charged particles C.its frequency D.its longest visible wavelength 7.What form of light does Doppler radar use?A.optical fiber B.laser light C.radio waves D.microscopes

SmokeyBrown:

For question 6, we can use process of elimination to eliminate the incorrect answers. A. Gamma rays are a specific type of EM wave, so it wouldn't make sense that the energy of EM waves in general are determined by gamma rays B. Charged particles do create EM waves, but the energy of the wave depends on the acceleration of the particle, not how many particles there are D. Most EM waves are not visible, so it doesn't really make sense to say that the energy of an EM wave depends on visible wavelengths I think C. Frequency is the best answer. I thought that the energy of EM waves depended on amplitude, but I guess amplitude is also dependent on frequency, so it still makes sense

SmokeyBrown:

For question 7, I think that radar in general uses radio waves (it's in the name RAdio Detection And Ranging), and Doppler Radar is no exception

Imarealbaddie:

9.Which statement best tells the ways in which light interacts with matter? A.Light can come from the sun, fire, or a light bulb. B.Light waves can be reflected, refracted, or absorbed by matter. C.Laser light goes through matter and all other light gets stopped by matter. D.Only visible light can interact with matter

SmokeyBrown:

Let's try the same strategy as usual for multiple choice questions. If the answer doesn't immediately jump at you, are there any options you can eliminate as incorrect?

SmokeyBrown:

We know that EM waves across the spectrum, not just visible light, interacts with matter, so we can get rid of option D right away. What do you think of the other choices?

SmokeyBrown:

I also wanna point out that this question was posted in Religion instead of Physics; thought that was kinda funny. Anyway, are you having trouble with number 9 right now?

AnimeDude1738:

answer to number 6 is wavelength cause of frequency and and amount of energy. answer to number 7 is B cause of electromagnetic radiation waves

ArielaQT:

a gamma ray penetrating electromagnetic radiation of a kind arising from the radioactive decay of atomic nuclei -google
