faithkristine:

here is another assignment i need help with. (ss below)

faithkristine:

Florisalreadytaken:

to dethermine if line AB is a tangent of that given circle, the triange should be a right triange -- we can just use the pythagorean thing: \[ \color{red}{c^2} = \color{orange}{a^2} + \color{cyan}{b^2} \] where \[ a=opposite \Rightarrow a=9 \] \[ b=adjacent \Rightarrow b=12 \] \[ c=hypotenuse \Rightarrow c=15 \] plug that into the formula, and it if turns out that ITS TURE, it means that angle ABC is \( 90^o \) AND CB is perpendicular to cb -- so yeah, AB is indeed a tangent. im curious tho, what are the options for the circled thing in the image attached below?!

faithkristine:

not tangent and tangent

Florisalreadytaken:

what? that doesn't make any sense -- can you take a ss of that please?

faithkristine:

oh ok

faithkristine:

Florisalreadytaken:

of maybe thats the answer box :\ -- the 2nd one should be a \( = \) sign right?

faithkristine:

what?

Florisalreadytaken:

faithkristine:

yes

Florisalreadytaken:

ok, so by evaluating that expression, we can see that its indeed TRUE. so that means that (check the image attached)

faithkristine:

ok so the first box is tangent, the third box is equal, and the last box is "is" but what about the second box

Florisalreadytaken:

we did that already

faithkristine:

thats what i thought

faithkristine:

thanks <3

Florisalreadytaken:

u got it

faithkristine:

yes

jhonyy9:

there are sides length : 9,12 and 15 we know that 3,4 and 5 are Pythagorean numbers what mean that \(3^2 +4^2 = 5^2\) using this we can rewrite 9,12 and 15 like 3*3 ,3*4 and 3*5 so if 3,4 and 5 are Pythagorean numbers one multiplie of them by 3 result Pythagorean numbers too

from this result BC perpendicular on AB from what result that AB is tangent to circle C

Florisalreadytaken:

same thing -- the "special right triangles" but nah yeah, that's that
