Kyky232:

A figure is located at (2, 0), (2, −2), (6, −2), and (6, 0) on a coordinate plane. What kind of 3-D shape would be created if the figure was rotated around the x-axis? Provide an explanation and proof of your answer to receive full credit. Include the dimensions of the 3-D shape in your explanation. (my answer will be in the replies) I'm confused on how I'm supposed to explain HOW its a cylinder.

Kyky232:

The 3-D shape that would be created would be a cylinder. The height of the shape would be 4 units. The diameter would be 4 units as well. The radius is 2 units, because it is half of the diameter.

snowflake0531:

Yea you're correct And it's a cylinder because after it rotates around the y axis, it has made it's 2 bases, and with the heigh, it just.. is a cylinder lol

Kyky232:

nono its rotated around the c axis

snowflake0531:

sorry that's what i meant *x axis
