What is the area of Figure ABCD? A trapezoid ABCD is drawn with length of parallel sides AB and CD equal to 13 inches and 17 inches, respectively. The length of one of the non-parallel sides BC is 8 inches. Side BC is perpendicular to DC. A perpendicular line drawn from A to side CD meets CD at E. 104 square inches 120 square inches 136 square inches 168 square inches

I think it might be something around 250 but I'm not gonna give you the correct answer

EvelynGrace:

So do some around 250

the height is 8, and the way i take it is to subtract the largest base from the smallest, so \(17-13\) then take the outcome ( \(4\) ) and divide it by 2, this gives you one of the sides of the triangle (image1) , then you multiply that by 8 and divide by 2, so \(\dfrac{2 \times 8}{2}\) this gives you your answer for the triangle, now you just multiply the smallest base by the height, so \(13 \times 8\) that gives you the area for the rectangle, now add the triangle and the rectangle together, \(\dfrac{2 \times 8}{2} + 13 \times 8 = Area~of~trapezoid\)
