Okay guys, I have a legitimate question for my ELA work on homophones, is a capital letter spelled capital or capitol? Because there's a city capital, and a capital letter, and I don't know the difference, tbh. Please help!!

I thought I was the only one who gets confused with this but for an uppercase letter it would be spelled as "capital"

Capital- the most important city or town of a country or region, usually its seat of government and administrative center. Capitol- the building But it would be capital, for words-
