What is the median of the following data set? {5, 2, 9, 7, 4} 5 7 8 9

supie:

the median is the middle number to find the median you first have to put the number in order from least to greatest

then divide by 2 if even or odd

supie:

there's 5 numbers so they wouldn't have to do any dividing the only time they would divide is if there were two middle numbers you would add them up then divide it by two then you would have the median for example if i had the data set 1 3 6 7 9 9, there are two numbers in the middle, 6 and 7 so i would add them up, 6+7=13, then divide 13 by two, 13รท2=6.5 6.5 would be the median

niahmk:

so it goes 2,4,5,7,9

supie:

yes, so what's the middle number

aidenj:

niahmk:

supie:
