Why can't rabbits keep growing exponentially?

This has to do with limited resources, like food and land. Eventually, the rabbit population would get to a point where there aren't enough resources to support all of them. At that point, the population of rabbits would decrease faster than it could increase; even if a lot of rabbits are born, not all of them would survive, due to limited resources. I'm pretty sure that was also Thanos' thing in the Marvel movies--population has to go down so there's enough resources, sort of
