Tonycoolkid21:

please help me with this

Tonycoolkid21:

xhikari:

we need to split up the layout into rectangles and triangles and find the area of each of those shapes, then add them in the end.

Tonycoolkid21:

k

Ethane:

the answer is 576

Tonycoolkid21:

so what number do i add?

Ethane:

the answer is 576

try leading him/her to the asnwer instead of telling her.

xhikari:

when you find the areas of the individual shapes within the container. you'll add those together

Ethane:

ok

xhikari:

so we can divide the layout into a square, 2 rectangles and 2 triangles

Tonycoolkid21:

so what do i do for 12 x 8

JamesTDG:

To solve for the area of a triangle: 1/2*(b*h) To solve for square/rectangle area: b*h

JamesTDG:

B is base, H is height btw

Tonycoolkid21:

so what number do i mutiply

Ethane:

12*8

Tonycoolkid21:

do i multiply 12 and 8

Ethane:

for the triangle

Ethane:

triangles*

JamesTDG:

Well, the triangle's base is 12 and its height is 8, multiply them together then divide by 2

Tonycoolkid21:

48

JamesTDG:

actually, for this case, don't divide, you have 2 of the same triangle

Tonycoolkid21:

k

Tonycoolkid21:

so what do i do

Ethane:

yea then solve for the 3 squares

Ethane:

so 10*12*2 than 12*12 than add them all together you get your answer

Tonycoolkid21:

wait first so i do 8 x 12 and divide by 2 i get 48n then what I do next?

Ethane:

no dont divide you have two triangles

bizaardvark:

is that my boi justin timberlake

Ethane:

so it will just be 96 for the triangles

Ethane:

so 96+240+144=

Tonycoolkid21:

wait can you explain step by step

Tonycoolkid21:

so start again

Ethane:

okay so you multiply 12*8 you get 96 then your done with the triangles then you multiply 10*12*2 you get 240 now you multiply 12*12 you get 144 then you add all the numbers up

Tonycoolkid21:

480

Ethane:

there you go

Tonycoolkid21:

ty

Ethane:

i did my math wrong the first time and your welcome

Ethane:
