@snowflake0531

snowflake0531:

@darkknight

darkknight:

how does one go from asking about line of best fit to that

Gucchi:

Lol

Gucchi:

So do you know?

darkknight:

maybe, ive seen the sign but im only i calc 1 so i don't really know, Maybe flor can help

snowflake0531:

@florisalreadytaken do u know?

Gucchi:

Can someone try searching it up?

snowflake0531:

if you think it can be searched up then you search it

darkknight:

feel free to do that

Gucchi:

I tried

Gucchi:

I couldn't find anything

Gucchi:

I don't know what to even search

Florisalreadytaken:

ok am back so, i was looking at your recently asked questions, and it all makes sense -- this is used to find the best fit line, and its formula the equation has the form \( Y= a + bX\) we can say that: \(\cdot\)the dependent variable (the variable that appears on the Y axis) is Y. `\(\cdot\)the y intercept is denoted by a.` \(\cdot\)the slope of the line is denoted by b. \(\cdot\)the independent variable is x. so this right here \( a = \frac{\sum(y) \sum(x^2)- \sum(x) \sum(yx)}{N \sum(x^2)-( \sum(x)^2)} \) is a part of 'the linear regression equation', and its used to find the y intercept, or differently said, its used to find `a`. im not sure if the a formula by itself has got a specific name tho. id really like @jhonyy9 take a look at this -- maybe he knows something extra
