Victorya:

why do you use math in this world?

FexrlessRxby:

Math can get you all sort of jobs, from chemical engineer all the way to a NASA worker. It is used in the daily life to figure out many problems for homework, jobs, or just everyday activities.

I don't think they were asking for a correction lol. And thanks.

gonna be honest, the vast majority of individuals in society use little to no math on a daily basis, and the only time math is gonna be relevant to those people is their personal finances. That being said, not knowing math (at least algebra) can burn you severely in cases of interest, or even just being able to solve math problems that arise from day to day things - how much gas do i need (and much does it cost). How much will i pay over the lifetime of my car? As for the minority of us pursuing STEM, you might only need precalc and algebra (doctors don't really need calculus)... or, in some cases, literally every bit of math you learned in high school to college isn't enough to solve your day to day work problems (pretty much everything I learned I wind up using, calculus is something i encounter regularly). Why do people like me use math? Any of the real problems and useful services are just math. Yeah, youtube, any part of a computer (software or hardware), every part of your smart phone, etc. etc. Of course it's not all just math, but without math nothing works.

CremePuff:

Math is something we do everyday, sometimes without even realizing it. For example, calculating how many hours you need to complete an activity is one type of math. Or when you’re in a store and you add up a few items to see how much your bill is going to be. The building you live in was built using mathematical equations. And honestly one paragraph alone would be too little to describe every single aspect in our lives where math is present. But in conclusion, math is an essential part of our life whether we like it or not.

Ashely:

Math can be a path to success it is something you will use everyday and you will always use. You learn new things and use the skills you have learned in school for future prefrences. You think "i am never gonna need this skill when i am older" but most likely you will in one way or another

poopoopeepee:

math is an essential part of your everyday life only as far as basic counting you learned in kindergarten. rest of the stuff you can use a calculator for. Unless you're doing something that actually requires math which is a minority of people. I don't like it when our curriculum lies and says that math is so useful for everyone. It is useful overall, but only for the people that are using it to create the things that the rest of society uses. The rest of society that uses those products needs minimal math.

poopoopeepee:

the reason they teach you math in school is so you don't grow up to be a "stupid american" (math develops your critical thinking skills even if you aren't always doing math). Unfortunately our curriculum doesn't teach stuff well so most of us become stupid americans anyways LOL.

Tr3IsBackbaby:

i dont math sucks

Kirii:

Math is basically just used in the real world to first be able to do things properly like building a house or irrigating plants properly

jhonyy9:

i think without math today the life on Earth not can exist ,not can be lived ...- my opinion

jhonyy9:

@extrinix what you say about this one ? pls.

Extrinix:

Honest thoughts about mathematics, it's what is required to make our world work the way it does. Without it we would basically have no semi-stable economies, structures, or even at that, government. Everything in this world revolves around the core thoughts of \(\color{tomato}{S}\color{violet}{T}\color{cyan}{E}\color{lime}{M}\). Without these, we could not have built the infrastructure needed to survive. I use math myself because I am becoming a programmer, and needing to know formulas that help structure website formats and such are needed, as well as the ability to calculate a piece from within pixels on a screen, literally. Now some say mathematics shouldn't exist and that it shouldn't be required, but in all honesty, if you didn't have mathematics during these times, you would be stuck dealing with complex systems, such like the economies of the world. You would be stuck with the realization that without mathematics, you wouldn't be able to complete most of the finances that will come in the very near future (18+). Now, what I'm basically trying to say here. Our whole entire world wouldn't function without one of the key steps required in it, mathematics. Think about it like this, without mathematics, what could function? Physics is a part of mathematics, so how could you tell speed? Geometry is a part of mathematics, how could you tell the size of a storage container? Think of those questions before you become arrogant to the fact that mathematics shouldn't exist. (: But really, in reality. Math is \(\dfrac{1}{4}\) of our life. :)
