can someone check?
noon (12 pm) to 1 pm is 1 hour 1 hr = 60 minutes = 3600 seconds and instead of 3600 seconds, the watch has only lapsed 57 minutes and 36 seconds which is (57*60) + 36 = 3456 seconds so every 25 seconds, it only moves 24 seconds however, you said there's 23 hours from 12 to 10? Even if you assumed it was 10 am, that's wrong. It's 10 PM so that would be 10 hours from 12 pm (noon)
However, this method is good if we're trying to calculate the time on the watch IF the actual time is 10 PM But the question wants to know what the ACTUAL time is IF the time on the watch reads 10 PM 57 minutes and 36 seconds is 56.6 minutes 36/60 = 0.6 so 36 seconds is 0.6 minutes so when 56.6 minutes elapse on the watch, an hour of time has actually passed so when the watch reads 10 PM, that's 10 hours or 600 minutes. What would the actual time be? Just set up a proportion 57.6 / 60 = 600 / x
57.6x=600*60 57.6x=36000 x=625 minutes or 10:25
Good job!! That would be your answer :) And if it had said that the actual time was 10 PM and what would be the time that the watch displays, it would be 57.6 / 60 = x / 600 x = 576 minutes or 9:36 PM
