@AZ

AZ:

when it varies inversely, that means xy = k when it varies directly, that means y = kx

crispyrat:

ok so sqrt(x)*y=k in this case?

AZ:

Exactly! I guess I should have worded it better when x varies indirectly with y, then it's written as xy = k when x varies directly with y, when it's written as y = kx so yeah

crispyrat:

so how would i use this for the problem??

AZ:

You plug in the values x = 24 and y = 15, so find the value of 'k' and then once you know the value of k, you plug in y = 3 and solve for x

crispyrat:

oh ok so sqrt(24)*15=30sqrt(6) so then sqrt(x)*3=30sqrt(6) so sqrt(x)=10sqrt(6) and that means x=600?

AZ:

Yup!

AZ:

Good job :)

crispyrat:

thank u

AZ:

No problem!
