Writing an Essay, (tutorial)
To write an essay you need 7 things. An introduction, a five sentence outline, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
To write an introduction we write H.O.T. introductions. Hook, Overview, Thesis.
Tips for introductions, think of the overview as a sum up, cross out the view and and add go to the front. Go over.
To write body paragraphs, use RACER format, RA=restate and answer, C=cite evidence, E=explain the evidence, Do another round of a CE, then Do another RA.
It is best to re-read over the text before you start your essay. Make sure you use quotes for pieces of evidence from the text.
To write your RA- state the question or your claim, then answer it. To write your C- find a piece of evidence that goes with your RA, then cite it. To write your E- explain why you chose the part of evidence form your C, and explain what this means.
To write a conclusion you need 3 things, your thesis, your RA, and then why it is important!
