Gucchi:

Which version of the sentence is most concise? The lamprey has the ability to latch on and ultimately weaken its prey. The reason the lamprey is successful is because of its ability to latch on to prey. The lamprey is successful because it can latch on to and weaken its prey. The lamprey actually latches on to its victims, specifically sucking the life out of them.

Gucchi:

Am i right with A? Or is it C?

Gucchi:

@az

lucasp16:

In my opinion, C looks like it could be correct because it requires little interpretation to understand the message of the sentence, that the lamprey is successful due to its ability to latch on to and weaken prey. In A, it says "ultimately" which feels irrelevant to the sentence's stripped-down meaning.

Gucchi:

@az what do you think?

AZ:

This is kind of tricky. If this is all the information given, then I agree with Lucas (If there's some passage or paragraph with this question, then it might change) The third option tells you a little bit more and seems more concise whereas the first one is pretty bare. Also, it's latching on the the prey to weaken it so "ultimately" does seem somewhat redundant

Gucchi:

Yeah, ill go with C

Gucchi:

thank you

AZ:

no problem
