Chapter 1: “The day they found out”
Not like most people Mia the girl with cancer spends most of her nights in the hospital praying for a lovely night. Mia was given the cancer at the age of 7, when her parents found out that she had some disease in her skin. Living up to her exceptions Mia wanted to try out for the Dance team, but only the doctor could clear her for that.
One day after another Mia tried to get cleared for school and the dance team but seems to her doctor that the cancer only gotten worster. Mia’s mom Jamie told her that if the doctor did not clear her for the dance team but for only school then she could not be mad because if she were to get weak something could probably happen to her. Jamie walked into the doctor’s office the next morning and spoke to Dr. Freeman about her going back to school, he said “She was to only go to school and no where else because it will only cause more and more problems” . Ms. Jamie did not seem to happy finding that out, but it was for the best for her daughter. Next day came and Jamie and Mia both find out that she can go to school. Mia told her mom “I want to cut my hair and maybe buy a wing”, her mom seemed shocked but ended up agreeing with her. As they marched off to the mall to buy a wing Mia asked, “Why don’t we buy a cheaper one mom”, Jamie answered back with a “because I want you to go to school as a fresh start and because I don’t want you to think I am trying to send you to school getting bullied for having cancer”.
Mia first day of school came around and she felt shivers go down her spine in despite of her very first day of high school. Mia got dressed and put her wing on but to her something felt off about going to school but her mom felt that she was just scared and not ready to go to school. Jamie brought Mia to school and drove back home for work. As Mia walked into the building a boy named Kevin, I believed it was running up to me and asked if I was new, of course I said yes. Despite the way of being terrified she asked where Business math is, and he sweetly brought her there without a fight. Lunch time came around and she found Kevin again and sat with him and he asked, “why haven’t I seen you around?” Mia answered back with a “I just started coming to this school in fact”. He looked nervous as if he liked Mia or something. Mia went to her last class of the day and lucky her she found a new friend named Andy. Andy is a 16-year-old girl that goes to Middleton high with Kevin and Mia. Kevin is a 17-year-old boy that happened to be a bad boy looking for a crime to fight. The end of the day came, and everyone went home. Jamie asked Mia how her day was, and Mia answered as a “ It was great could’ve been better”. After Jamie made dinner she finished and went to bed awaiting the next day to come upon them.
