You can easily take out 2 options because your number is going to be negative since your going down.
So now we need to find a common denominator for 5 and 12 what number could work?
16 5/12 + 3 1/5 You add the whole parts separately from fractions 16 + 3 and 5/12 + 1/5 Need to bring these to common denominator. 12 and 5 have no common factors, so common denominator is their product: 12*5 = 60. 5/12 = 25/60 1/5 = 12/60 Now its easy to add them together
Can you add them: 16 + 3 + 25/60 + 12/60 = ...
19 + 37/60 = ...
