Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.”Romeo and Juliet is a play by Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet are from different families which have a grudge with each other. Love meets the both of them but events crash them. Their death could have been the fault of themselves, their families, Friar Lawrence or Juliet’s nurse. But the most responsible was their families.
A reason for how their families were responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death is that they assigned and insisted her to marry Paris. According to the film ``The Tragic Death of Romeo and Juliet “Juliet's mother was mentioning marriage at the beginning of the story moments before their party started. She kept saying how she was a woman and that she should start thinking of marriage. In which she gave the news that she would marry Paris. She tells her to try to meet him in the party '' In this scene Juliet was hesitant for a moment and doubtful about marriage. She did not think she was ready mentally for it but her mother insisted. Her mother did not let her speak for herself and hear her out. This is not the best motherhood skill. Being a mother means supporting your child, respecting their decisions and hearing them out. Another detail in the scene is “ Juliet’s mother tells her that the wedding will be held soon and Juliet gets upset. Her father comes in and gets furious when she is not pleased about the marriage. He swears that she will not be considered his daughter if he does not marry Paris. He storms out and her mother follows. This scene indicates how her father forced the marriage on her. Instead of hearing her out he gets furious with her. He swears terrible things on her that gets her raged and miserable. She gets miserable as well knowing that she will have to marry someone she does not love. She was already married to Romeo. The forced marriage with Paris kicked off their relationship. This made Juliet prefer death over that marriage. Juliet’s mother also did not help. She did not console Juliet when she got yelled at by her father nor did she cheer her up. She just left without a word.
Another reason is that their parents had a grudge with each other . According
to the film `` The Tragic Death Of Romeo And Juliet “in the beginning of the film the prologue is about how both households had a grudge and death came out from it.”
The grudge between these people was like an invisible border in which Romeo and Juliet knew of. If they have not had a grudge they would have known each other without worrying. They would not have been at the brink of death. Another detail is in the part where “ Juliet and Romeo kissed and met each other at the party. Juliet was fazed by him and asked her nurse who he was. When she learns that he is an enemy she is surprised but not denied that she loves him.” In this part we can see how him being a Montague is shocking to her. She knows how her family does not fond of Romeo’s family at all. Knowing that their family are enemies loving each other publicly and easily would be an obstacle. If they have not had a grudge both of them would not have been pulled to death. Romeo and Juliet died due to their grudge.
Although it is true that Romeo and Juliet’s parents are responsible for their death, some may believe that Friar Lawrence is responsible because he made poor decisions. According to the film The Tragic Death Of Romeo and Juliet “Friar Lawrence decides to marry them in secret” this decision is not the best. Marrying them in secret brought consequences like when Juliet had to marry Paris. She was already married to Romeo and that troubled her a lot. He knew they were crazy in love and marrying them would top it all off,but he also knew they came from enemy families. Also according to the film “ friar Lawrence promises them a better future by sharing his plan with Juliet and giving Juliet the potion.” Promising a better future hyped Juliet. Friar knew that they were struggling and this kind of promise was not a hundred percent accomplishable. He knew better than to rethink his idea. With that idea Juliet drank the potion to fulfill it. She wanted a future in which he promised. With the potion Juliet faked her death and in which reached Romeo who became devastated. His wife was dead and so he thought that there was nothing left for him. Killing himself with her was what he did. Juliet finding that out also did the same.
Therefore, this film in which was about naive love and despair had a tragic ending in which someone was responsible for. Many would believe that Friar Lawrence is responsible due to his poor decisions like marrying them and sharing his plan. A plan in which death occurred. The responsible for Romeo and Juliets death were their families thanks to their grudge and Juliet’s parents.
