If point E is the midpoint of segment AC and point D is the midpoint of segment BC, which expression represents the value of s?
s equals p over q
s = one halfu
s equals q over p
s = 2u

ok so since both, adjacent and the opposite leg of triangle ACB are cut in half to form the triangle ECD, then it means this last triangle is going to be half the size of the big triangle right?

so logically every leg of the smaller triangle is half of the larger one

we can see that the hypotenuse of the small triangle is s, and the hypotenuse of the larger triangle is u

so u would be 2x right? thus, we can say that \(s=\frac{1}{2} u

thats wrong -- it would be right if it was \( u=2s \), but that one is a no.
