Well, I'm not sure if the question is supposed to be "explain why the inhabitants of earth are interested in mars", since at this moment in time we haven't discovered any living inhabitants of Mars.

However, if we had, there are some good reasons they'd be interested in Earth.  Mars is very similar to Earth when it comes to terrain, shape, and atmosphere.  Mars has many rocky mountains and volcanos on its surface.  It's also confirmed that water was found on mars, meaning the planet sustained great amounts of water at one time.  And where there is water, there is often living organisms.  The Earth also has many different benefits.  Its atmosphere is very clear, and it has great bodies of water.  It also has better weather since it's closer to the sun than Mars.  A great vacation spot for Martians looking for a nice tan.
