IceCreamisYummy:

The Profit (P) in dollars for a company is modeled by the function P(x) = -x2+ 6x, where x is the number of items What value of x will maximize profits?

IceCreamisYummy:

the -x/2 is supposed to say -1/2 idk why it showed up incorrectly

darkknight:

the function is showing you profit, the function is concave down as denoted by a being a negative number, which is -1/2. Find the x coordinate of the vertex using -b/2a

IceCreamisYummy:

P(x) = (-1/2) x^2+6x is supposed to be the equation

IceCreamisYummy:

so is the answer 6?

snowflake0531:

so if the equation is \(-\frac{1}{2}x^2+6x\) is the equation, you're trying to find the vertex... the easiest way would be to graph it (6,18) is vertex So yeah, it's 6
