How do we determine the validity and credibility of the media that we consume?
depends on how crazy and how intnse the story is , how hard is it to believe and also how many other cretibale soucees have comments or reported about the story
Well, a good start is where you are getting it from, who wrote it, and what proof you have of that place/author being credible.
It seems more like a math/cs question (propositional/predicate logic) to me, lol, but anyway. Any media's business model is to get more viewers; that's how they earn and grow. So the news is targeted to the audience's interest. You can often see different povs from different media, so it's obvious that media isn't easily trustable/valid; they're all hypotheses. It's not feasible to determine the validity and credibility of any media. But what you can do is have a degree of belief / probabilistic interpretation of it based on your knowledge/experience, confirming with other sources, dialectical thinking, recursive questioning, etc. You must update your view as you gain more knowledge. This way, you wouldn't be ignorant of other possibilities. Not an easy task because we have more biases than time to think about it, but it's better than being an ape.
