kaibeth:

When an organism is exposed to a limited quantity of oxygen, the cell's mitochondria will stop cellular respiration involving the Krebs cycle and enter the process of fermentation to survive. What conclusion can be drawn regarding an organism's ability to undergo fermentation? A. Fermentation makes more ATP than the cellular respiration. B. Fermentation does not require food. C. Fermentation uses more ATP than it is able to produce. D. Fermentation must create a net gain of ATP.

NerdyLizard:

Well, how about we start with some elimination.

kaibeth:

D? because you have to produce a certain amount of ATP?

NerdyLizard:

Why should it be removed?

NerdyLizard:

Isn't that the point? You input to have a net gain.

kaibeth:

I think it is D

littleduckling:

its d

NerdyLizard:

Oh lol. I thought you meant to remove D

kaibeth:

no problemo

NerdyLizard:

It is the only one that makes sense.

kaibeth:

and thank you!

littleduckling:

their just double checking their answers

KyanTheDoodle:

That's correct. The organism would use fermentation to produce ATP because they need the energy. If it used up more than it produced, it wouldn't be useful for energy production!

littleduckling:

yw

NerdyLizard:

Right and yw! :D
