CHANGE INTO TWO COLUMN PROOF Measure of the central angle COD = 48° Therefore, measure of arc AB = 48° Since, segment AC is a diameter and central angle for a diameter is 180°. Measure of major arc ABC = 180° measure of arc AB + measure of arc BC = 180° 48° + measure of arc BC = 180° Measure of arc BC = 180° - 48° = 132°
@jhonyy9
This is a little hard to do without seeing the original problem But basically, for a two-column proof, you put statements in the left column, and reasons in the right column. so for the first sentence, "Measure of the central angle COD = 48°" put this in the statement column. Then, put the matching reason in the reasons column. Usually, the first statement is already given in the problem, so you would put "given" as the reason. Repeat this logic for the other statements.
Awesome! Would you like me to upload the original problem?
Sure
okay hold on a minute!
Ok, so we already stated that <COD = 48 degrees is given Next statement: arc AB is 48 degrees. The reason(s): <BOA and <COD are vertical angles, so <BOA = <COD = 48 degrees. <BOA is the central angle that intercepts arc AB, so AB is also 48 degrees. I hope that gives you a better idea of how to fill out the statement/reason table.
Awesome! Is there any other information that goes along with this question? Like any more statements and reasons?
@vocaloid
You need to look at the original problem and go through the statements one by one and determine what the reasons for them are.
i see! Could you maybe give me another example
From the original problem: "Since, segment AC is a diameter and central angle for a diameter is 180°. Measure of major arc ABC = 180°" The statement is that major ARC ABC is 180 degrees and the reason is that AC is a diameter and the central angle for a diameter is 180 Remember, the statements are the facts and the reasons explain why the statements are true
Awesome! I'll try my best to figure the rest out. Thank you so much!
