i just got a long board recently and i was wondering if anyone had some tips and tricks or just some things to know. i find speeding up a little hard especially since i get anxious and look at my footing a lot which kinda throws me off balance, if you have any tips for that, thatd be great :) (also a bit of trouble on my heel side turns/cravings.)
dont wear safety
feel the pain to know the pain
yea you gotta learn from the pain and then build ur self stronger from the pain
learn how to carve on the board, youtube my guy, if your looking for hella good bearings on all 4 of my boards are either redbone bearings or yellow jacket bearings, highly recommend them. NEVER RIDE THROUGH WATER OR YOUR SCREWED, WALK THROUGH WATER DONT LET YOUR BEARINGS GET WET
also with the turning, tighten up your bearings, keep a tool on you and tighten them as tight as you can so you can slightly lean on the board, then as your riding, take a break and loosen untill it feels great
probably my only advice i can give you is that you learn from pain, every time you fall just think that its just another time you dont have to Enjoy your longboard!
i had my first fall the other day and it felt good to finally get the fear out of my head, it really didnt hurt as bad as i thought it would, just got a bit dizzy, a few cuts, but were good
If u fall hard enough the pants and stuff wont protect you trust me I know I fell of my skateboard one time and it ripped straight through my pants
Lol, since most of these are just telling you to fail, and "try again," here's some better advice; you should keep your feet on the board however it makes you comfortable, but if you don't have it on a certain way, it may create a more difficult way of turning/controlling the board. You should have your left foot in front facing forward, and your right foot in the back, facing right. Do not get scared when going down hills, you may get speed wobbles, when your board starts wobbling back and fourth fast, it's gonna mess you up, and you'll fall off for sure. Just be calm and look forward. To stop/slow down, slightly place your front foot a little forward, and bend your knees, to lower yourself and/or place one foot off the board but dont step off, or you'll mess up bad. Just slightly scrape the ground with your shoe. If you need to speed up, you should just push with your back foot, and use your front to turn, you'll get use to it when you do it more, but pay attention so you know what's in your way, your feet our fine, as long as your holding down the board.
