(Forensics and stuff) What is the probability of being caught after you commit a crime

Well for one, it's quite a big possibility. I don't exactly have the statistics but after reading a couple article's it seems to me that a lot of people ignore the outcome because either they think or they know their crime is small. Therefore, they know or think that the outcome will be small. Some say that the more you ignore it, the easier it is to get caught because you are being careless.
