lolokrat:

can someone help with this math problem?

lolokrat:

lolokrat:

so far i've got (5x/4 - 1/5) = (1 - 2/5x + 1/25) but i can't figure out what the LCD is to move on?

Vocaloid:

there's an easier way to do this notice how your denominators are 1, 4, 5, and 10 what is the least common multiple of these numbers? multiplying the entire equation by the LCM will eliminate all the fractions

Heidiiiii:

its 20 i believe

lolokrat:

20?

Vocaloid:

@lolokrat yes, so try multiplying the entire equation by 20 to eliminate fractions

lolokrat:

sorry 25x-4 = 20 - 8x-2

Vocaloid:

ah, I should have specified, for the parentheses you only have to multiply 20* the number in front 25x - 4 = 20 - 8(x-1/10) can you try solving from here

lolokrat:

erm im not really sure what the next step is

Vocaloid:

(the reasoning: the -2/5 is already applied to both the x and the -1/10 so you just needed to multiply the -2/5 in front by 20) anyway, moving on: 25x - 4 = 20 - 8(x-1/10) adding 4 to both sides 25x = 24 - 8(x-1/10) distribute the -8 25x = 24 - 8x + 8/10 from here, combine like terms, solve for x

lolokrat:

x=124/85 ?

Heidiiiii:

period that looks correct

Heidiiiii:

wait does it want you to simplify ?

lolokrat:

it said 124/85 was incorrect

Heidiiiii:

what bro at this point just guess on that one you've done all you can

lolokrat:

oh its 124/165

Heidiiiii:

I mean you got half of the answer correct lol

Heidiiiii:

you know I hate these types of questions they all way be so complicated for no reason

Heidiiiii:

what grade is the math your doing ?

Zayne:

krat did you get the answer correct?

Vocaloid:

aw shoot sorry I got interrupted in the middle of this for future reference: 25x = 24 - 8x + 8/10 add 8x to both sides 33x = 24 + 8/10 re-writing 24 as 240/10 33x = 240/10 + 8/10 = 248/10 33x = 248/10 330x = 248 x = 248/330 = 124/165
