There are many different forms of government, based on the ideological values of the government and how the leaders are chosen.
In terms of choosing leaders, governments can take the form of a Monarchy, a Democracy, a Republic, a Meritocracy, a Dictatorship etc.
In terms of the values of the government, some examples might include Theocracy, Socialism, Communism, Capitalism (those last three also overlap with economic systems), etc.
And you can mix-and-match governmental types based on different categories; for instance, you might have a Communist Dictatorship or a Capitalist Democracy, etc.
