Note the following values: Protein is 4 calories per gram. Carbohydrates/sugar is 4 calories per gram. Fat is 9 calories per gram. It is recommended for most adults that carbohydrates make up 45–65% of their diet, proteins make up 10-35% of their diet, and fats make up 20–30% of their diet. Does Deb’s diet meet these recommendations? Support your statement with calculations.
did you figure it out
no i am unsure how to go about figuring it out
how did you come up with those numbers?
thank you, i have a really hard time in math and biology so i am lost a lot when doing work in those subjects i still am lost thank you for your help/
i think u multiply or devide
The percentages are based on percent *calories*. So carbohydrates need to be 45-65% of total calories; protein needs to be 10-35% of calories; fats need to be 20-30% of calories. It also gives you: Protein is 4 calories per gram. Carbohydrates/sugar is 4 calories per gram. Fat is 9 calories per gram. So take Deb's diet: 1. multiply grams protein by 4 to get calories from protein 2. multiply grams carbohydrates by 4 to get calories from carbs 3. multiply grams fat by 9 to get calories from fat 4. add up the totals from steps 1-3 to get her total calorie intake 5. divide calories protein/total calories and multiply by 100% to get % protein. repeat with carbs and fat. 6. check to see if all three categories are within the guidelines.
thank you so much now it makes sense>
