xxDeppressionxx:

1/2x+4=-3 X/2+4=-3 X/2=-3-4 X/2=-7 X=-7•2 X=14

Shadow:

A negative number multiplied by a positive number is still a negative number, so it should be -14

Shadow:

-7^2 would be 14

Shadow:

Tony in short what Depression did was isolating x. You'd start by subtracting 4 from both sides, then multiplying both sides by 2. That's basically how you get your answer.

VanossFC5:

its 12 btw

CortneyTubbs:

Sadge it wouldn't be -7^2 it would be -7*2 would equal -14 and the answer is -14

yeah it would actually be 49 lmao, I was a bit imprecise with what I was saying. Really any negative number squared is a positive number, since it's a negative multiplied by a negative.

Tonycoolkid21:

ok

Shadow:

In short I was illustrating how it couldn't be 14, not that exponents were actually involved or that the answer wasn't -14

xxDeppressionxx:

no i meant to put -14

yeah lol I know that.

CortneyTubbs:

math comes to me naturally

xxDeppressionxx:

Same but sometimes i forget one simple thing in it.

CortneyTubbs:

That happens to me too. I helped my sister out with her high school math when I was in middle school.
