At the time it was the biggest army in the world. when the government went broke he took from the people who could not complain or riot because they would get silenced by authority. of course this was not good for the economy whatsoever. Instead of money being spent on the people, and their living conditions Hitler was blindly fighting to make his army bigger, which lead to a further decline in the economy. even though the German military was large lack of productivity was a huge blow which lead to a weak limited supply line. Not to mention their lack of proper leadership, and the people's unwillingness to help. so when France and Britain declared war on Germany the odds were in their favor. which just goes to show you brains over brawn
