Yes most schools have Dress Codes in order to prevent anything horrible from happening. Students can be idiots sometimes.

I've heard rules such as "if your arms go lower than the leg holes of your shorts thats a dress code penalty, yet people do that a lot at my school

MY school you can were normal clothes just no rips above the knee no yoga pants for girls not tanktops for guys no inappropriate shirts no bandanas because they think you in a gang and some more but we could were mostly normal clothes

Kids with hoodies. That's the biggest dress code violation of all. Seriously, one of my teachers literally screamed at me because I had on a hoodie.
