What is the difference between Indian and Native American?

Vocaloid:

Native American is the term for people indigenous to the Americas (usually used for North America) Indians is also used for indigenous Americans, although it's based on an incorrect assumption from Christopher Columbus when he mistakenly thought he landed in India. Of course, Indians also refers to people who are actually from the country of India. However, both of these terms are falling out of favor and you'll find the word indigenous being used, or even more specifically, the specific tribe name.
