He was born as the Renaissance began, died in the last years of the Renaissance, and was a brilliant sculptor. He was talented in many areas, accomplished in many fields, and interested in many things. He refused to use religious themes in his art, used his talents to promote peace, and was devoted to one area of accomplishment.
