To change a wallpaper you have to double click on the screen with no apps open, then click the set wallpaper screen where you will then have a choice to use stock images or images saved in your computer

You can have an app open but make sure it's not in the way when you go to change the wallpaper. Your wallpaper can be something they already have there, or it could be something you downloaded yourself.

There's also a show shelf button that depicts whether or not you want your app list to show or not when typing, reading, etc.

You also have a choice on where you can position your shelf, Left, Right, and/or bottom.
