Well i do know that women helped out by filling in men's roles while they were fighting

Ok so most African Americans were either enslaved or scattered in an army of some sort. African Americans also served as gunners, sailors on privateers and in the Continental Navy during the Revolution. In the camps, women performed chores such as washing laundry, mending uniforms, cooking meals, and providing nursing care. Many Native American tribes fought in the Revolutionary War, while some stayed neutral or joined the British army.
