How are mosaics and collages similar? How are they different? List at least two similarities and two differences.
Please do not copy-paste my response. Well, they're both similar because they're made up of a lot of smaller pieces put together to create one large art piece. There are some subtle differences - mosaics are usually made up of solid pieces, generally of the same or similar material, and a mosaic generally depicts one main subject (like a stained glass mosaic made up of individual glass pieces, where the big picture is a portrait). Collages have a lot more diversity in what materials are used (photos, magazine clippings, text, etc.) and there's less focus on creating one whole image, but rather a collection of images that have some common theme or idea. Interesting question.
