DiabolikLover:

I enrolled in public schools from kindergarten to 6th grade. I was a victim of constant bullying and favoritism from both students and teachers the entire time. Because of that, in my 7th-grade year, I left public schools to attend an online school. Even though the English work was poorly constructed, consisting of three different classes, and didn't yield any experience in learning or writing, I did have a much better year than I had years previously. I started my senior year in public school; after a series of unfortunate events, I decided to graduate from an online school. Graduating from an online high school is an excellent option for students. Online high school gives students experience in digital communication. In the article, Online and on target for success, the author talks about how online school has taught the kids how to communicate effectively through email, skype, and other technological innovations. It prepares students how to communicate in college with their professors and other students in a professional setting. Students at a high risk of dropping out or not graduating have benefitted from 24/7 access to their classwork. In 2001 a school in Texas ran a test to see if an online school setting would help students at risk of not graduating. After the test, the results were recorded and published in the article Fine-tuning an online high school to benefit at-risk students. The verdict was, for the 17 students who had participated in at least two-thirds of the semester (60 days) for three courses, four passed two, and five only passed one. Online high school has benefited students with parents that travel and move from state to state for work. It has also allowed more students to graduate while overseas. In the brief article, New Virtual H.S. offers self-paced curriculum. The author writes of a new Houston based high school launching in 2004. Its purpose was to provide homeschoolers, athletes, adults, and students living or traveling abroad a chance to get their diplomas without the hassle of attending a physical school or lugging around expensive textbooks. The classes are self paced to allow students to carry on with their day to day life. Students could also communicate with their teachers about their lessons through emails, chatrooms, and message boards. There would also be no need to buy textbooks to complete the courses. To ease the load of renting or buying them, they were digitally accessible. In online high schools, it's easy to procrastinate because students don't have the constant reminder to be in class or to complete homework. True, it is easy to procrastinate in online high school; but, some students found a system to help them remember to do their work. In the article Fine-tuning an online high school to benefit at-risk students, students found that working over the minimum amount required before Friday, they could stay on track and not get into trouble for missing hours. Also, in the article, The Importance of Creating Habits and Routine, it has been found that habits and routines have consistently been important for people of all ages. Graduating from an online high school has become the best thing for me in my situation. It has helped me be on top of my work and be responsible for my future. Online high school might not be for everyone, but it has become a viable option for graduation for students everywhere.

That sounds very good. I love how you clearly state your opinion and give evidence to support it! Overall I give this a 10/10

Astrid1:

I love it, sounds neat, and you also kept it clear and informative, you've seem to have reached all the needed requirements as far as I'm concerned in typical assignments/essays. Good job!

Overall, I think this is a pretty decent paper. For some improvement, I'd say maybe to have a stronger thesis at the end of your first paragraph. You should be setting up the reasons why you think online school is a good option. Each body paragraph you give a different reason, so I'd say try and include them in your thesis. Also, when you are referring to things you've found in the articles you used, I would quote the information you took from the article. Furthermore, after you quote your evidence from the articles, connect it back to your topic sentence of the paragraph. For example, paragraph 2 says: Online high school gives students experience in digital communication. In the article, Online and on target for success, the author talks about how online school has taught the kids how to communicate effectively through email, skype, and other technological innovations. It prepares students how to communicate in college with their professors and other students in a professional setting. After you quote what the article says about that, try and connect it with a sentence or two to your topic sentence of "Online high school gives students experience in digital communication." How do these skills help them "communicate in college..." as you mentioned at the end? Something like that. Overall it's a satisfactory writing. Good job (:
