i dont exactly know for sure but i do think its because that most of the high mass stars, the temperature and the pressure in the core of it can reach a height that is enough value so that the process of carbon fusion can begin and then oxygen fusion can begin and then even heavier elements like neon magnesium and silicon can undergo fusion, continuing to power the star until it dies or something like that
