After reading this over and over again I can say for a fact we can eliminate A and C. Which I'm sure you already know since you think it's D. I think it's either B or D - but it would most likely be D since it properly transitions to the next sentence.

Usually when someone says, 'In addition', they're saying something that's not as obvious or like an added fact, y'know?
