take a look at the periodic table

Strontium is an alkaline earth metal (group 2)
Bromine and chlorine are halogens (group 7)
Oxygen and selenium are in group 6 called chalcogens

Elements have similar properties based on the groups that they're in. Don't look based on which one is closest to oxygen when you look at the table.

What element is in the same group as oxygen? That's going to be the element that shares a lot of properties and will form a similar compound.
