System of Equations by Elimination @MusicGeek

sxdsouls:

-8x+4y=12 -4x-3y=31

MusicGeek:

So to find the answer you have to multiply the bottom equation by -2. With that you will get 8x+6y=-62. Then you use that and the other equation to find the y. When you add them together, you get 10y=-50. Divide both sides by 10, you get y=-5. Then you plug y in one of the equations and you will get -4x=16. Divide both sides by -4 and you get x=-4. The answer then will be (-4,-5)

sxdsouls:

thank you
