Is there a difference between dikes, dams, levees, and canals? (I need this info for a history project ;v;)

Well a dike is like a long wall made to prevent flooding
Dams block water flow in rivers, kind of like a dike.
A dam- Is sort of a blockage towards the river

yes there is a difference ;
I mean like are they used for different purposes.
They all have comparisons it's just where it is settled that makes a difference
