Well we the people of the united states give the government all the power they have they can not do really anything that we dont give them without voting on it and giving them there power. At first when our country just started everyone was corrupt and people were going into government and bribing the voters money so they could get into those positions.

A example of this is Tammany hall and boss tweed they would help people who may need food or a job or place to stay. All they wanted in return was voting. So when people went to vote they would just use there power because Tammany hall and boss tweed would control who went into office or not.
