Not little by little, but breaking it down a bit so instead of viewing it as one big clump of an essay, there's parts

So you want about 5-6 paragraphs for 1,000 word essay.

First Paragraph
-Introduce topic, and state your thesis and 3 main points about the topic

Second Paragraph
-Talk about main point 1

Third Paragraph 
-Talk about main point 2

Fourth Paragraph
-Talk about main point 3

Fifth paragraph
-Conclude by summarizing thesis and main points

Yeah it's not a problem! Write the paragraphs one by one. As you get more information on your research, put the info into the appropriate paragraph and then make full sentences and whatnot. It is way easier to break it down like that than to just simply start with a 1,000 word essay. Strive to get 150-250 words per paragraph too! About 3-5 sentences
